I heard from almost everyone by now and it looks like you all have the capabilities to view each others movies at locations other than the lab at Monty Tech. This assignment was essentially a dry run for our 6th class which will run on April 17th.
My thought is that rather than trying to get you all together simultaneously in my virtual office at TappedIn, it's going to be more effective that you view the class through this blog. In that way, wherever you choose to be during vacation, you can accomplish everything you need to at your convenience. More importantly, this venue will allow each of you to concentrate on the work of your colleagues, in a quiet and thoughtful manner without the clutter that usually occurs in a chat window.
I will post all the finished movies to the same relative location as the sample movies that you viewed last week as soon as I can.
*Assignment:
- Please complete this assignment prior to April 21st. That way I'll be able to view everything on the blog and prepare my own comments as well as get ready for class 7. Thank you.
- Please view each of your other class members during the week of April 17th by clicking on the link with their names below. Presently you'll see placeholders for each one of you by last name. The links will be blind until you all give me your movies, I get to post them to MEC's Webspace, and activate them. When you come in later this week, you'll know when the links become active by their color and underlining.
- Remark on each one using the comments component of our blog. I will create a series of blank comments (placeholders) for each of you so that the other can have their say keeping all under each of your names.
- That way each commenter can easily keep track of their viewing/commenting progress and each contributor will be able to see all the comments written about their movie.
- My philosophy regarding criticism, is to ALWAYS keep it as positive as possible. Each of you will move to improve what you've done as you glean ideas from what others have done. That's the purpose of this viewing/commenting exercise and why it was included in the syllabus.
- Please remember that we all come to these classes with different strengths and skills and that none of you (save possibly one) was familiar with Windows Live Movie Maker prior to this course.
My plan is to be in my virtual office holding office hours during our regular class time, 4:00 pm to 7:45 pm on April 18th, in case any of you have trouble with the assignment or wish to discuss any other class related issues. It is not necessary or otherwise a requirement that you visit me there during that time. I offer it as a matter of convenience to you. You can also call me during that time just in case either of us has trouble accessing TappedIn. I will email you my cell number as well as the land line (better for reception) I will be closest to during that time.
Here are the movies. Placeholders for the comments for each one of them are at the very bottom with corresponding titles. By Friday, April 20th, there should be 16 comments for each one of them:
Bartok
Cataldo
Curry
DeArellano

ReplyDeleteRose I Loved your movie, the way you applied Math to the building, the pitches and slopes. The many lessons shown by both students and teachers. There was a little too much back round noise, therefore leaving it hard to hear the students and teacher talking.
DeleteNice tie in to the shops! The kids did a great job, especially the student in Carpentry(sorry, I don't know his name),he was both entertaining and informational at the same time:).I wish I could have heard the other video explanations more clearly, but the one in Carpentry did convey the true sounds of the Shop!Nice job!
DeleteI had a great time with the shop students. I will edit this before I use it in class, take out the hard to hear parts.
DeleteIt was a fun learning experience and I want to do more with this movie maker and math.
Is there any way to increase the audio for some clips so that they are all the same volume?
Great job. You not only tied in more than one trade you showed how the students use angles in everyday life was really nice. I don't think that when they are running up and down the stairs that they take into account someone had to figure out the pitch. Good job.
DeleteGreat job Rose. The students must have had a great time helping you with this video, we all know how camera shy they are! It was nice to see how this is applied in the different shops.
DeleteRose, this is such a great example for the math classes, especially right now because a lot of them are working on slope. I really like that it answers kids' questions of: "When are we ever going to use this?" One thing I thought was good for clarification was when you used text to say that pitch was slope when it was being discussed.
DeleteGreat video. Loved that you got the students to explain it themselves and how they use it in their shop. It was really nice to see them work with you.
DeleteRose, Great job. Loved how you tied in the practical application of math!! Very often we hear studetns comment that "I will never use this!!!". I also loved the mix of still pictures and the action. The student in House Carpentry did an especially good job!!!
DeleteShannon
Interesting video. I love the integration of Academic and Vocational programs. Tne Drafting young lady and Pete M. were hard to hear.
DeleteRose great job. This is a video that could help our students understand how math is incorporated in every day life. This video is something that will grab the students attention and keep them interested in math.
DeleteAmanda
You took a concept they use every day in their individual shops and showed how cross-curricular it is. You'll definitely show it several times so they can watch it to see their friends and then realize the educational value to it. Loved your giggling!
DeleteRose, great job using students from different trades applying the information. I think that the students can really relate their peers and will understand that math is used in different trade areas.
DeleteHello, Rose
DeleteI really enjoyed how you combined elements of the school with the information presented. The speakers all did a great job, and it was wonderful to see the kids participate. The audio needs fixing, but that seems to be minimal overall. I liked how you framed your shots and the perspective was simple, focused and clean. Nicely done!

ReplyDeleteI can't open it.
DeleteKim
I tried again, no go can't view it!
DeleteKim...I could only open it on my apple not on my PC.
DeleteAnnMarie, the lightening bolt was a cool effect...how did you do that? Excellent job presenting all of the facets of creating a stimulating environment for kids. Loved the pictures and the song definitely went along with the goal of the movie:) The text on some of the slides was hard to read...I had the same problem when making mine, I wonder if Eric or anyone else knows of a way to put the text in a solid color text box so it will stand out from the background picture...anyone??Excellent job!
DeleteI could not open this movie from my P.C. I will try again at the end of the week
DeleteIt was fun to watch and I loved the pictures with the little ones. It gave a clear picture and guidelines for an excellent learning environment. I noticed some of the pictures and words were a little fuzzy, not sure why. I opened this on my PC but it took over an hour.
DeleteVery colorful and real life pictures are always a plus. I liked the song with the pictures. I had some trouble reading the words because of the color or size of the letters. But otherwise I thought it was fun!!!
DeleteI was not able to open this.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI couldn't get it either.
DeleteI could not open on my PC but I saw the finished version last week, so let me comment......I thought that it gave a great introduction into all the things to consider in what a good learning environment for children looks like. I think sometimes too many think it just play time and do not appreciate the thought and planning that is part of creating a great environment for young children!!! Can not wait to see it used in shop!! Well done!
DeleteShannon
Sorry, I also cannot open it from my pc.
DeleteAmanda
First download took 15 min. Noticed it's a .dv if that helps. I remember Marlo Thomas producing Free to Be... You and Me in the early '70s! If you set your pix to fit the soundtrack, you might want to double it so people can read and see the pictures longer to enjoy your details. Nice work!
DeleteHello!
DeleteSo cute! :) I could picture every part of the MT Childcare Center with these areas. Makes total sense now! LOL
If possible, can the text be made a bit bolder? It seemed to be a bit fuzzy. Song was a nice choice. Supports the visual without taking over and interfering with the reading of the text.
Nicely done!!!

Please post comments here regarding Kim Curry's movie here.
ReplyDeleteKim, I loved the mood of each "hair era" conveyed by the pictures and music combo.Fantastic job!It brought me back to the days of straightening my hair with GIANT juice can rollers every night...ouch!!!As I was watching,I was thinking it would be funny to include a mystery faculty member's picture from an old year book and have the kids guess who it is...just a thought:).
DeleteKim....i hate to say that I knew most of the people on your movie. Great job showing the hair styles through the generations (decades). I loved the 50's styles! well researched and presented movie on the styles that were predominate for each decade. I think you were a fan of the band poison?
DeleteI enjoyed your video. It was a fun look at hair over the decades and the music was perfect. You had a great range of photos that truly gave a definite feel for each decade. The 80's were a lot of work for me with those BIG hair styles, I actually had long hair back then. Great job.
DeleteOK I have a few things to say 1st I did iron my hair, 2nd I slept in orange juice cans for rollers, 3rd I knew most of those people in that clip and last Poison was my daughters first concert EVER and she was 12 now she is 34! In LOVED that video it brought back some great memories for me but I can tell you that I'm not wearing shoulder pads again EVER!!!
DeleteI am just really glad that you did not include a picture of me from the 80"s! Great video, gives the students a lot to think about. It's amazing how styles do come back around. I enjoyed it.
DeleteGood choices for the music. It was really interesting to see how the hairstyles have changed throughout the years.
DeleteWay to go Kim. It took me back on a fun walk down memory lane. Interesting how all fashion gets recycled. If I had just held onto some of those clothes.....but then they probably wouldn't fit. NO I take that back, they definitely wouldn't fit. Perhaps Marisa would have liked them.
Deleteoops....Made a comment but somehow ended up on bottom of my own comment sheet...LOL!
DeleteShannon
Kim this was so much fun to watch. I do remember some of those hair styles myself. It is interesting to see how hair has changed so much over the years. This will be a great tool to use with your cosmo students.
DeleteAmanda
This is so much more than an intro. Your students won't realize how many times they'll change over the years and hair/fashion in a picture captures that moment in time. I wanted the 10 points for Poison! Good consistent use with the text expanding forward.
DeleteKim, this brought back some memories of my big hair days. The students will be able to see how the hair styles have changed so much over the years and have fun doing it.
DeleteHey!
DeleteSo fun to watch this. The music was great and supported it well. I agree with DonnaLee that if a few faculty pics could be put in that would be fun! The memories this brings back! Wow. The pace was good, you might even be able to speed up the slide speed just a touch. History of Hair...who knew!
:)

ReplyDeleteLove the implementation of comics to Novels. How to use a graphic novel within the classroom. Catering the books to each students reading level. How to introduce these books to students and how to have them reiterate the story in their own version, then create their own novel. Love it!
DeleteGreat job! I love the idea of students creating their own graphic novels. Are you doing this project with the students this year? I would love to see the final products.Very informative.Nice incorporation of the youtube video.I haven't tried adding videos from youtube yet, I may be looking for some expert advice!
DeleteThis would be awesome for many of our students. This was very informative and gives great tips on using graphic novels with students. Creating their own graphic novel would be a great project, just have Jonathan close by!
DeleteI enjoyed the video you did a wonderful job of blending the on line video with your slides.
I think that this is a great idea, my youngest had so much trouble reading in school and I asked if he would be able to read comic books and back then it was always no. I think that if he would have been allowed to do this or to read car engine "how to" books it would have helped. One question, is this for one on one or do you do this with the whole class? great job enjoyed the music and the way that you put in a video
Deleteloved it kelley
Another great way to get the students interested in literature, especially those who avoid it. Also, a great example of a video put into your movie. Good job Kelley!
DeleteVideo was very well made. Very interesting way how to get the students involved in literature. Well done.
DeleteSo well done!!!! The finished product had a very polished and professional feel to it. Clearly, your comfort with the technology came shining through!!! As for the topic, what an innovative use of graphic novels. Is this something that is currently utilized at MT? Very informative and as a parent, I may try to entice my high schooler into reading using these novels. Thanks!!!
DeleteShannon
I like the idea of incorporating graphic novels into literature. I've done that in some reading classes I used to teach and it appealed to a lot of kids. The video was great and I liked that you were able to add the YouTube clip as well.
DeleteCool way to get kids into reading. I loved comic books. Archie, Betty and Veronica. Great idea incorporating the utube video Some of the text went a bit fast...or perhaps I'm a slow reader.
DeleteThis video was wonderful. This is something that our students could really enjoy. I like how you open the students eyes up to literature in a whole new way. It helps students understand that reading is reading and it isn't restricted to a paperback novel.
DeleteAmanda
Great find, Kelley. Hope you share this with other department members. Since we share so many students, anything we can do to encourage reading and writing is a help. Good transitioning.
Deletegreat job with the video. Graphic novels seem to be so much more popular now that some have been made into movies. Very well prepared and soothing voice narrative. Enjoyable and informitive
DeleteWhat a great way to encourage reading for those who do not enjoy it or have difficulty with reading. The video was very informative and can encourage both reading and writing.
DeletePlease post comments here regarding Nancy Despres' movie here.
ReplyDeleteLove it. Great way to show the what to do and not to do, in a very interesting yet funny way. Great way to grab a students attention and introduce a new lesson. Well done.
DeleteGreat choice of music! The kids will love it.The flow of the movie was terrific and really got the point across...Fantastic!!
DeleteI love the music, Disney is awesome. This gets the message across easily and clearly. I liked your transitions from text to slides.
DeleteThat music was great! I liked the way that you did pros and cons. I think that is shows the kids "how to" and how "not to". Seemed like it ended too soon it left me wanting more. So thats a good thing, good job Nancy
DeleteI liked the video it was straight to the point. The music fit in perfectly. Overall it made me pretty hungry.
DeleteWell, like everyone else....loved the music!!!! Simple and clear. I think it is simple and just the right length to engage students but not lose their interest! great job!!!
DeleteShannon
The music was great and the video was to the point. The dos and dont's are clear and helpful for the students.
DeleteLoved it. Great flow, excellent pace, informative and comical. Love the song I wanted to sing along
DeleteGreat job. Music was fun and the movie was easy to follow.
DeleteAmanda
Always good to start with a question. Nice transitions; good variety of techniques used. I wish I were someone's guest at Disney World right now!
DeleteNancy, you did a very good job preparing your video. the students will enjoy the professionalism of the presentation and examples of how to present yourself.
Deleteenjoyable to watch and listen to.
Enjoyed the video. Great choice of music to go with the information. Customer service is so important in your trade and can be very difficult for the students to understand.
DeleteI really liked your special effects! I forgot all of the fancy things that can be done with the slides...I really liked seeing them used here. The song was perfect - the kids can sing along. Give bonus points if any student identifies Laverne and Shirley. Well done! :)
DeletePlease post comments here regarding Rebecca Helgin's movie here.
ReplyDeleteBecky what a great way to introduce test taking, this puts students nerves at ease. Love the music. Grabbed my attention I will use this before a test! Nice job.
DeleteNice upbeat way to prep the kids for testing! Great use of humor and music to convey a message about test prep in a low stress way.Great creativity! Loved the humorous responses!Terrific job!
DeleteGreat pictures and graphics. The music was fun and upbeat. This would be good to show the kids the day before MCAS, maybe in learning support. The length was just right it should keep their attention.
DeleteI was laughing out loud at the answers on the tests! Really funny, and I liked the dog too! This is great to remind students to relax and try their best at any test. I think I would have had to give some of those students extra points for their humor.
DeleteThat was great more students need to see that not just kids taking MCAS my students make those mistakes all the time. Or they go back and change answers. I loved the funny ones at the end. Once (and only once) I pulled an all nighter studying and fell asleep during the test. Needless to say I failed it!
DeleteNice job Rebecca
Becky, loved the video. What a great way for the students to get comfortable and decrease their stress levels prior to the test. You not only gave the good things to do, you included the what not to do which added a little humor. Well done.
DeleteI really liked the video. It was a great way to help them prep for the test. Maybe we should show them this when we have the MCAS meeting. I loved the part with the goofy answers.
DeleteBecky, Loved this video and I think this video will be useful for setting the tone for all tests. I think Caseys idea about prior to MCAS is great. Humor used to inform is always a hit. Very Impressed!!
DeleteShannon
Becky, Loved it. Great for those days just before MCAS when the kids need the advise and a little comic relief.
DeleteBecky, this is a fun way to introduce MCAS to our students. The music was great and the slides were informative. This is a video that the students would enjoy and I have a feeling I will be seeing it next year in our Learning Support classes!
DeleteAmanda
We share a lot of students so I can hear their comments already! Great music choices and wonderful graphics. Maybe a little slower in the beginning to enjoy those pictures? Good job!
DeletePlease post comments here regarding Jon Hurd's movie here.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you say about the one that is perfect? I loved the way he did it slow, he didn't jump around and talk too fast. I now know how to change my screen
Deletejudy
I love this! Something everyone can use and refer back to. Well done. Changing my theme!!!!
DeleteExcellent job Jon! I liked the computer-style type you chose. The instructions were spoken clearly and at the perfect pace...NICE!Can't wait to try it!
DeleteAwesome job. You did an excellent job explaining each step and showing it on your laptop. You should make some more videos on common questions you get.
DeleteGreat job Jon! You sounded very professional, perfect tone and pace for trying to follow along. I wish I could talk at that pace. You should definitely make more videos.
DeleteNice job Jon. It was very easy to follow. I agree with Rose you should do this for any common questions.
DeleteJon, What a great job. You kept it simple and easy to follow. It had a very professional feel but was really easy (even for the novice!!) to relate to. I agree with previous comments about you should create tutorials for all the common questions you address on a daiuly basis!!! Awesome!
DeleteShannon
We all knew yours would be great, but it was very informative too. The pace was perfect and easy to follow. I agree with the previous comments that it would be cool to see videos on commonly asked questions.
DeleteWell done Jon. Loved it. Now you need to make more for all those nagging questions we pose so you can do your real job and stop running ragged everywhere doing all the small stuff.
DeleteJon, I'm not surprised that your video was awesome. You did a wonderful job introducing the material at a pace that would be easy for anyone to follow.
DeleteAmanda
You need to share this with your former teachers. They will be very proud of your skills. Nice transition from pix to laptop. A bank of instructional videos would be very helpful, but that isn't your job. So what's next?
Deleteglad that you can change your background and themes...we are not allowed :o Video was easy to follow and the tasks were in a logical order.
DeleteGreat video with useful information. Very easy to follow and understand. Well done and professional. I need more of these videos so I don't have to call you all the time.
DeletePlease post comments here regarding Amanda Kelly's movie here.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great story, loved the song and picture choice. Little to fast at the end. I loved it great job.
DeleteKim
Amanda, your selection of pictures really helped to tell this important story! Great music choice to go along with the pictures. A liitle more time with the text on the screen of the last two slides would make them easier to read. Fantastic job!
DeleteWhat a great way to tell the history of the freedom riders. The music was perfect and the photos and text told the story very well. If you need help with the last few frames slowing them down just ask, I can help. Great job.
DeleteThat was very good and had many lessons in it not just history. Little fast reading for some of the students. It had a begining middle and end. A really nice job
DeleteVery moving video. The pictures said a lot. Great way to introduce a topic to students. I enjoyed it!
DeleteVery good video. The music went with it very well. The pictures were a perfect way to tell that story to students.
DeleteA terrifric video. Actually made my own 9th grader waatch it with me and it provided the springboard for some great dialogue...thanks! Great use of pictures to tell a story!!!!
DeleteShannon
I thought your song choice was great for the topic! I could see this being incorporated into a history lesson as a way for the kids to make a connection to the freedom riders.
DeleteExcellent choice of song and well placed pictures to present this important part of our nations history. Text went a little fast for me or perhaps like I said in Kelly's I must be a slow reader
DeleteSuch a good topic. Great pictures, good transitions, yes please slow down to appreciate your text. The Jockey Boy Restaurant made me cringe. The kids need to be made aware of this period of our history.
Deletegood transitions and music. I had the same thing happen with my video...it seemed to play slower on my computer but was a bit faster when I watched it here. Good content and presentation.
DeleteGreat video. The information and the pictures were great. Students will enjoy this video while learning an important history lesson.
DeletePlease post comments here regarding Judy Logue's movie.
ReplyDeleteOf course I watched my own and spelled Victim wrong please don't hold it against me!!!!!!
Delete111
Very nicely done. Great fun lesson for students, just leave out the beer part, ha ha ha!
DeleteGreat song choice...I think the students will love it! What a creative and fun activity to practice blood typing skills!Terrific job!!!
DeleteThose were some bad looking boys! What a fun video to watch. The students will enjoy it and it will be a great review for their blood typing. How did you scroll the text on the picture? Awesome job.
DeleteYour students will love this. A very fun way to explain a lesson. I think I have seen a few of those guys in Fitchburg before!! Great video.
DeleteVery interesting way to give the lesson. It grabs your attention right away and the music fits it perfectly.
DeleteKids will respond to this!!! It hooks them in immediately......We all love a little CSI! Great and creative approach to blood typing!!!!
DeleteShannon
I would love to be a student in your class. This video is a great way to give them background on the assignment and catch their attention. I can see the students being very excited to start once they watch it.
DeleteGreat introduction to the project the kids will be doing. The song will grab their attention. Your kids will love it. Watch your spelling.
DeleteJudy, this was fun to watch. I really think this will grab your students attention. Who doesn't love a mystery. I would love to hear how your students react to this video when you show it.
DeleteAmanda
Very creative! Loved the story/premise. Great outro on your music. I'll help you edit if you'd like. Smooth transitioning.
DeleteCSI investigation is a good way to teach blood typing and classification. video should get a few laughs from your students...could you have found any creepier people for the pictures? good job
DeleteGreat video! The students are going to love it. Easy to follow steps and so much fun for the students.
DeletePlease post comments here regarding Casey McNally's movie.
ReplyDeleteI hate math! I hate it because I can't always understand with a lecture. Your movie simplifies it and you can refer back to it! Nicely done!
DeleteLoved the "how it's made" type music. Great explanation! Did you play the music in the background while you were explaining or did you add it over your voice later?Fantastic job!!!I think the Math Department needs to create a bunch of these video explanations(similar to Kahn Academy but done by our own faculty) that struggling students could access when they need a little support:)Great idea and Great work!!!
DeleteGreat examples and explanations. Keeping it short and to the point helps students focus. They can also play it again if they get stuck. I agree with Donna Lee we should all make some video lessons for our department. Maybe we could get students to do some for projects. Wonderful video.
DeleteCasey that was great the way you tied in flags, bridges, etc. things that kids can relate to. Then ending with how to do the math was really good.
DeleteI hope that I remember it when I need it!
good job
Great way to review a lesson or to give extra help to the student who needs a refresher. It was very easy to follow along, just what some students need.
DeleteI love that there were real life examples and that steps were broken down. I also agree with Donna Lee that it would be great to have some of these types of videos for the kids to watch, especially if they're struggling. This was a very practical and useful video.
DeleteKids love real life applications. This is great. I haven't used this type of Math it in so long I forgot how to do all that. But then I'm not a carpenter. And who said construction workers just need to know how to swing a hammer
DeleteLoved the real life applications and it actually made me think back to when I was as student in a math class and simply memorized formulas but had no idea what it really meant. Appreciated the walk through on how to do the actual math!!!
DeleteShannon
Casey, well done. I'm not a fan of math at all and I wish we had fun stuff like this growing up, because I might have actually understood it! It was fantastic how you tied in symbols that the kids see on a daily basis.
DeleteAmanda
Nice job. Another kid topic that you've offered another option. Knowing the kids we share, they need as many as you can find! Music is good, well-paced. Your explanation flows nicely. Who doesn't love a right angle?
Deletegood video to reinforce the concepts and applications of that right angles and triangles that use that theorem. good examples and practical approach.
DeleteWell done. It was great to see all the examples of right angles, it will really make the students think. Very easy to follow and understand.
DeletePlease post comments here regarding Mike Robichaud's movie.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, love the sound effects. Your kids must have had the best toys made out of boxes! I have seen your students doing this project, it is great! Nice job!
DeleteMike you get the prize for the best sound effects! Where did you access the sound bytes for your movie?Very professionally done!!! Liked your choice of pictures.Excellent job!
DeleteKids love boxes! Great video and sound effects. Have you ever had students compete in Odyssey of the Mind? They have a building project to support the most weight?
DeleteYour students must love this project. They are learning and having fun. Video was great, music too!
DeleteNice job with the sound clips. The project seems really cool. Video came out nicely.
DeleteNice video had to be able to read fast! I didn't know that you can make so many things out of a box. One thing that I thought was really great was you gave them an objective and an expectation of what to do and NOT to do. Clear instructions
Deletegood job Mike
The video was well done, all of the things with the box were neat, and I, too, liked the sound effects. Did you get them from one of the sites Eric gave us in class?
DeleteI love this type of project. Great critical thinking going on. You have a great introduction for it. My only critique is the text went too fast.
DeleteThis video was fun and I enjoyed the music. This activity is fun and is something kids would love!
DeleteAmanda
I picked up on the Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, "Lost cause," quote! I stopped the video to read the text, but suggest slowing it for your students. Good sound/transition editing.
Deletemy original video was too large to email and I made this one short enought to be able to send (due to our limitations of 10k file size) I will be glad to show my full length version in class one nite. I took a powerpoint presentation and altered it to make it a video with sound, pictures and a video of the chairs being tested in the weight room. The winning chairs held over 700 lbs and weigh less than 4 lbs. My students look forward to this sophomore level design project.
DeleteGreat project. I'm sure the students enjoy it even though it looks very challenging. The clips were great.
DeletePlease post comments here regarding Michelle Salvanelli's movie.
ReplyDeleteI love how you utilized the students. I am a visual person. this is great for visual learners, creative!
DeleteMichelle, awesome job...what a catchy little tune about teeth.Big fan of Homer...so I'm glad that he made a cameo appearance. The video of the kids asking questions as an intro to your webquestwas a great idea...very creative!Loved it!
DeletePerfect music and a fun, informative video. So are we going to glow in the dark? Cute x-ray picture and a great way to get the students started with an assignment.
DeleteGreat job on your video. Perfect length to introduce the assignment. Also, a very important topic in your field.
DeleteNice video. It was good to get the students involved in the video. Nice way to introduce the x-ray. loved the picture from the simpsons. The music fit the video well too.
DeleteThat was fun and a great tune. I liked the way you used not only pictures of x-rays but the caution sign too along with protection. Good use of students and the many questions that people have is a good lead in to a classroom discussion.
DeleteNice job
I think that having students in your video is a good way to get more students interested. It seemed like a great way to get into the webquest.
DeleteNice job Michelle. Love the song. It had me dancing in my seat. Kids will respond well to the various xrays and the students in an area they recognize...their own shop. I can just hear the comments now, "Is that the treatment area?"
DeleteWell done my friend.
Loved the music and I think getting the kids involved is a great idea. Good lead in for your web quest!!
DeleteShannon
Simply, well done. The tune was catchy and it was great that your students really seemed to enjoy themselves while doing the video.
DeleteAmanda
I now have the Shiny Teeth song stuck in my head... Good use of graphics and video. Penguin? Good intro for your students.
Deleteyour movie was very entertaining and well presented. it was very interesting and the images were great. I liked how you tied the "web Quest" into your video at the end. It makes me think that there may be a "part II"
DeletePlease post comments here regarding DonnaLee Tignor's movie.
ReplyDeleteWhen am I ever going to use this! Good question, great song. Relating math to their job, the real world, helps! Loved it!
DeleteI love the video. I hear that question all the time, the kids are not always willing to hear the examples. The video gives them some great examples. I liked the music and your students should make some video's!
DeletePerfect for high school students! It was informative and answered their question! Very nice to see all the shops in the video. I'm sure the kids had a lot of fun helping you.
DeleteAh the question that plagues students and teachers so often. Great to see the massive amount of student involvement. I loved how you showed specific examples in each of the shops.
DeleteThat was great but "when am I ever going to use this! I really liked those black and white pictures how did you do that? Good job of using something simple with the tire that a student can refer to.
DeleteNice job
I love when we can show the kids an answer to "when are we going to use this". I also like that the video related back to the time they spend at Monty Tech, which should pique their interest. It was definitely something I would use in the classroom.
DeleteDonna you have outdone us all. But then I have two more to see. Great video. You have truly answered that infamous question. Great use of students, very comical.
DeleteSo useful in a classroom!!!! I think the use of students and MT will help generate interest. Well done and I loved the use of shop areas!!! Outstanding!

Great Job! As someone who has always struggled with math...I love the video. It was the answer to the question I always found myself asking in high school "when am I going to use this". I guess now I have to say I use math all the time and don't even realize it!

Graphics and video use are great. Music is very subtle but constant beat in the background. So good to see the shop application. Your students are real hams!
DeleteNice job Donna, it was informitive and interesting because you used a student from the shop that uses that concept. Students will relate to this more because some of the students will know this girl and relate well to her. good job recording on your phone.

ReplyDeleteGreat job, helpful for the visual and audio learners. Awesome I love it!
DeleteThe incorporation of the film trailer definitely would help students to visualize the novel. Anything that helps the words come alive for students is a plus! Great idea! Nice narration...I thought you did a fantastic job of speaking not only clearly but at a nice pace. On the last slide, did I read that you have an ancestral connection to the Salem Witch trials??? Do tell...
DeleteI liked the film trailer. Your voice was clean and easy to understand. The pictures were great representations of the topic. The movie had a nice flow to it and a catchy opening tune. Wonderful job.
DeleteI agree with DonnaLee, the film trailer helps very much. By giving the students a visual, the topic may appeal to more students. You did a great job with the audio, very easy to listen too.
DeleteLoved how you were able to sync up your audio with the video from the movie. A great way to give the students an intro to the book.
DeleteThat was a good base for the students, it pulls you in and makes you want to learn more about the time and the story. I really liked the music, when my husband heard it he came over to me and wanted to watch it! He was a history teacher years ago and he liked it as well!
DeleteGood Job Cid
The movie trailer got my attention right away. I thought you did an excellent job with the voice over and since I didn't delve into that you made it seem easy. Nice job.
DeleteNice job Cid. Great use of the movie trailer. Your voice over is clean and clear. Nice way to bring a personal touch to the topic. That will also perk a wealth of conversation with the kids. They love real life drama
DeleteCid, this was a great video. The incorporation of the movie trailer was a great idea. This is something that will defiantly draw the students in an create plenty of on going conversation. I also liked how the sound was crisp and clear.
DeleteAmanda
It had a good beat and I could dance to it. R.I.P. Dick Clark...
Deletethis is a good intoduction to the topic and books that will be covered. the movie trailer is one view of the story and could give the students a visual of the time era and conditions that people lived under at that time period.

ReplyDeleteWake up call! Those babies are a great teaching tool. I have seen your students with them during their projects! What a great thing! Nicely done!
DeleteKim
Great way to address such an important topic. "Baby think it over" is a fantastic project...it definitely makes a point. I also liked the scrolling newsfeed text across the bottom of the screen in some of your slides. Great job...I'm sure the pictures and statistics will have an impact on the students in your class.Terrific!!!!
DeleteThe video won't open. I'll try again later.
DeleteVery eye opening project for teenagers. Hopefully, they get the message. Great way to introduce the project to your students. The text at the end was perfect for sending them on their journey.
DeleteGreat video to talk about a really heavy topic. Very important for the students to really think about their actions.
DeleteGreat video! I like how it opens up the dialog for such an important topic. This video is a great idea and I thought it flowed well and the text was great.
DeleteAmanda
Good job on presenting your topic of child raising and how teen pregnancy can be very difficult. the babies that the kids carry around are a great reminder of what it is like to have a real baby. Do the students have to keep the baby for only 4 days? i bet the journals are interesting and informitive.
DeleteNice job we should show it to the student body! I liked the way that you gave them the intro then the expectations of what they needed to do. I'm glad that you included the FATHERS in the movie so they don't think they are excluded in the project because they are boys
ReplyDeletegreat job
Kim, Great job with the movie. It provided a perfect overview and the music help set the tone!!! Fun! I can see this being used during tour day and open house.....perhaps running on a portable smart board? I think parents and prospective students would love it!!!
ReplyDeleteShannon
This is such a great lesson for every student! You could give your video to other schools and it is relevant everywhere. I think the pictures will really resonate with the students. Awesome job!
DeleteAwesome Shannon. The kids will love this introduction. Love how you transitioned the music. They were great choices. All videos were great but Yours and DonnaLee's get my top votes.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll show the video to the pre-exploratory kids. At least they'll get the message early. Good use of music transition. Final text going out into space is symbolic of their disappearing futures!
